soft smoke

Today I’m going to show you a soft smokey eye. This is a staple look. It’s perfect for any and every occasion. Date night? heck yes! Wedding? perfect! Girls night out? absolutely! Walking the dog? sure!

For this look I used Lancome Colour Design Eyeshadow Palette in 100 Taupe Craze. These are such beautiful colours! I can’t even!! This palette would be perfect for everyday wear, day to night transitions and bridal makeup. I think the rosy pinks and soft browns work really well to make hazel and green eyes POP!

Start with an eyeshadow primer. I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance. With the palette, start with 3 and blend through the whole crease. Then use 5 to create a soft V shape at the outer edge of the lid then softly blend these two colours together. Also use 5 to line the lower lash line, then blend that line out to create that soft hazy look under the eyes. Pat 2 over the centre of the lid to bring light to this area. Mix 1 and 4 and highlight the inner corner. Lastly I used a black eyeshadow and a slanted eyeliner brush like this one to line the upper lash line. Finish with two or three coats of black mascara on the top and bottom lashes. I used Benefits They’re Real! in black.

The smokey eye can be a hard eye look to master, but once you get it you can start playing around with different colour combinations and create an endless amount of looks. My tip to master the smokey eye…a quality blending brush. I used this blending brush from Sigma. Other brushes to consider are the MAC #217, Quo crease brush, and Real Techniques base shadow brush.

Here is the finished look:
