laid back glamour

Hi everyone! Recently I did a makeover for a friend of mine who is self admittedly “clueless” when it comes to putting on makeup. She has her day to day routine down but she wanted something different for those days or nights when she wanted to be a little more glammed up.

Here is her BEFORE picture…isn’t she gorgeous! This is going to be too easy for me.
DSC00272Blonde hair, blue eyes, and a beautiful fair complexion.

The eyes:
For this look I kept the eyes simple. However my lengthy description makes it seem much more complicated then it really is. All products are listed at the end.

DSC002761. I started with an eyeshadow primer. I always use an eyeshadow primer on clients when I do their makeup because it helps the colours stay true and increases the lasting power of the shadow. 2. Next I blended a warm matte brown into the crease. 3. To deepen the crease I used a darker matte brown shade. 4. I also used a shimmering light brown colour to highlight the centre of her eyelid. 5. I highlighted the inner corner of the eye with a white iridescent shimmer. 6. For eyeliner I used a black pencil and then blended it out with the black eyeshadow and an angled brush like this one 7. For lashes I added 2 coats black mascara onto the top eyelashes only. 8. To really finish off this look I filled in her eyebrows ever so slightly with a matte brown eyeshadow.

Here is the finished look!

DSC00274The warm browns on the eyes really make her blue eyes pop.
The black pencil eyeliner smudged with a shadow creates definition and brings the eye upward without looking too harsh (like a liquid liner can).
A shimmering peachy blush gives her that “lit within” glow
Lastly a pink lip brings the look together.

Tip for the fair-skinned: a nude lipstick could also be an option for this look but often nude lipsticks totally wash you out when you have really fair skin. It’s best to stick to pinks. If you want to go nude, I’d suggest a pinky-nude.
